Founded nearly 50 years ago, SunOpta manufactures natural, organic and specialty products sold through retail and foodservice channels. SunOpta operates as a manufacturer for leading natural and private label brands, and also proudly produces its own brands, including SOWN®, Dream™, West Life™ and Sunrise Growers™.

Anchored by its R&D team for plant-based and fruit-based food and beverages, SunOpta has become an industry leader, launching nearly 70 innovations in 2021.

Contributing to 13.4% plant-based revenue growth in 2021, the R&D team reimagined plant-based beverages, customizing formulations for retail, foodservice and natural products customers. SunOpta’s oatbase is a differentiator, using whole oats and concentrated at 40% for multiple applications. In the last two years, the team developed its popular organic oat creamer, SOWN, and diverted oatbase byproduct to create Upcycled Certified ingredient OatGold. The R&D team also positioned SunOpta as the leader of private label smoothie and seed bowls.

SunOpta is proud to call Eden Prairie, Minnesota home. In April 2022, SunOpta opened its new 65,000 square-foot corporate headquarters and innovation center. The new location features a pilot plant and R&D center eight times the size of its previous location.
